Alexis Barad-Cutler founded Not Safe For Mom Group (NSFMG) in July 2018 after a well-known parenting website took down an essay she had written for them because it was "too controversial." She wanted to create a stigma-free platform and community where women could express the thoughts, feelings, and questions they don't talk about anywhere else.
These days, NSFMG boasts a 6000+ on and offline community that opens up a much-needed dialogue about topics women have not been given the opportunity, or the permission, to share. NSFMG members engage in honest, deep diving conversations about everything from post-baby sex, to rage, to infertility, to gender disappointment, to post-partum depression and anxiety. The result is a community of support (and window into contemporary motherhood) you'd be hardpressed to find in today's polished social media landscape.
