This event is open to members and non-members. Full information and tickets here.

Sharlene Kemler is on a mission to make philanthropy more effective and inclusive. Through her consultancy SK Philanthropy she works with pro-athletes, entertainers, and high net worth individuals to direct their money where it will make the most impact (hint: it usually involves supporting an existing, under-resourced non-profit instead of starting their own), and as a social-cause marketer, she has managed campaigns for Ben & Jerry’s, UN Women, Procter & Gamble, and Grey Global Group.

Now Sharlene is working on her most ambitious project yet: Modern Philanthropy Collective (MPC), a minority-led social impact fund that is changing the face of philanthropy and creating a new philanthropic system in which generational wealth and sustainable impact can be obtained within minority communities.

MPC investors are entertainers, professional athletes and social influencers of color who want to invest in the communities that have invested in them. They are philanthropists who are pooling their resources together to facilitate strategic generational social impact. A percentage from each commitment is placed into MPC Endowment and will be granted to vetted minority-led grassroots organizations and nonprofits. The remaining balance will be placed in MPC mission related investment portfolio that will managed by minority hedge fund and venture capital managers, enabling both social and financial returns allowing MPC to be sustainable and for donors to give the gift that keeps on giving.

Join Sharlene and Powerbitches founder Rachel Hills for an intimate and interactive conversation about her experiences building Modern Philanthopy Collective, her goals and vision for the project, and how she thinks philanthropy and non-profit funding need to evolve.
